The Man

Patrick Rettig is a true 21st century renaissance man. Being a soulful singer, a mesmerizing storyteller and an accomplished musician is only one part of this complex man. He writes screenplays, scores films, flies two airplanes (not at the same time), races motocross bikes and cruises on his Harley (if ten year old Lanie, needs to hang out with dad) or, on a cloudy work day airplanes are grounded and the Ducati 1198 sp Road Racer is the fare of the freeway.

The News

"Black Sun" album is prepping for release and includes a new version of the hit single ‘Superstition.’ The Waters family have put their incredible background vocals on ‘Superstition’ and Patrick’s tune ‘He Calls My Name.”

The first single release, "Dance" is playing on 102.7 KIIS FM in California - from the highly anticipated new album 'Black Sun'. Stay tuned for details.

Plans are being made for a big CD release party in Los Angeles - Summer 2012.

The Myth

The Music

Patrick writes about what he's seen and heard over the piano. A keen observer and intent listener, he is like a songwriting super sleuth searching for clues about the mysteries of love and life.

About Me

As a high desert dweller and a corporate guide he represents the cowboy bandit who uses his powers for good. Many, many companies find themselves in financial trouble. If lucky enough to discover this Piano Player he will take them on a rough ride back to the yellow brick road and financial peace of mind. He is under the radar, no business card, no resume, and any given smokey bar room may find his piano story telling about the adventures of heros.

Patrick successfully balances his corporate work with his other true love, music. He has written and recorded several albums including The LA Jesus Band project, which funded a friend's missionary church.

Rettig has been back in the studio over the past year recording his latest collection of original tunes. He wants his CD "ROYALTY IN EXILE" to inspire those people with dreams…. the unsung hero, the musician, the motocross racer, the poet and on and on. His message is simple and clear; do whatever you have to do to keep your dream alive.

Patrick Rettig Band – Songs From "Royalty In Exile"

Maybe, just maybe, I'm going to surprise someone with this review. I got a package in the mail, asking me to listen to this disc. I'm not sure if they were requesting a review, as there wasn't much in the way of promotional information included with the disc. But, I took one listen to this, and decided it was my duty to tell you about Patrick Rettig and his band. Because, one day—mark my words, you will hear him again, and I told you first.

This is just a great EP. One of those talents that only comes along every once in a while. Ok, that sounds like publicity hyperbole in overdrive, but I've got to tell you this is some pretty incredible stuff. Heck, even his bio really doesn't tell me much. So, I will just write about the music, and believe me…it's good.

The disc kicks off with "Still Rockin," and rock….it does. It sounds like something Bob Seger might have done a few years' back, but make no mistake, Patrick is not playing copycat. He keeps up the attitude on the driving "Royalty In Exile" (also the title of his full-length album), and waxes some amazing grooves on "Right Now."

He's got some very strong potential hits here. "Cruisin' Daytona" is a neat story song that, given a chance, could be the next Southern Rock anthem, and "Anytime Around" has a sound that could make it a hit in so many genres. One of my favorites here is the charismatic "Dancin' In A Dream," which makes me want to jump on an airplane, land at LAX, rent a car, and go cruising up the PCH…..Any takers? Folks, this is what you call a star in the making. He's ready for the big time…..I would love to hear a collaboration with Kid Rock or someone like that, as stylistically, they have a lot in common. Go ahead, remember the name. Patrick Rettig. But, also remember….I told you first!
